Post approval

Contributors write posts, and an editor, admin, or owner approves them before they go out.

A member with the Contributor role can write posts but cannot publish them. When a contributor chooses Schedule, Publish now, or Add to queue, the post moves to Awaiting approval instead of going out. Drafts need no approval.

Approval is part of Starter and the plans above it. Owners, admins, and editors approve.

Approve or reject

Find the post

Owners, admins, and editors get a notification in the app and by email when a contributor submits a post. Open it from there, or from the Approvals tab of the channel.

Review it

Post details shows "Awaiting approval before it goes out." Read the post and check each channel.

Decide

  • Approve queues the post for its scheduled time. eksis confirms "Post approved".
  • Reject needs a note. Write what has to change in "What needs fixing?" and choose Send rejection. The post goes back to draft, and the author sees your note.

For contributors

  • While a post awaits approval, nobody can publish, reschedule, or retry it until it is approved.
  • After a rejection, edit the draft using the note and submit it again.
  • Deleting a post takes an editor, admin, or owner.

Good to know

  • Only the Contributor role goes through approval. Editors, admins, and owners who schedule a post themselves are not sent to anyone.
  • The rule holds on eksis's servers, so it also applies when a contributor works through an API key or an AI assistant.
  • To change someone's role, see Team and roles.
