First comment
Post a comment on your own post right after it goes live, for hashtags and links.
A first comment is a comment eksis posts on your own post right after it is published. People use it for hashtags and links, so the caption stays clean.
Add one
Open the channel's tab
In the composer, pick the channel. With several channels selected, open that channel's own tab: a first comment belongs to one channel, not to the whole post.
Write the comment
Find First comment, choose Add, and type the comment. The hint reads "#hashtag or link".
Schedule as usual
Schedule or publish the post. eksis posts the comment about 5 seconds after the post goes live, and tries up to 2 more times if the first attempt fails.
To drop it, select the × next to the text box (its label is Remove first comment).
Which networks support it
| Network | First comment |
|---|---|
| Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky | Yes |
| X | Yes, as a reply post that uses X credits |
| TikTok, Pinterest, DEV Community | No, the network has no API to write comments |
| No, it needs LinkedIn's Community Management API |
On networks without support, the row does not appear in the composer.
Limits
- eksis accepts up to 2,200 characters, and the network's own limit still applies: 280 on X (a link counts as 23), 300 on Bluesky, and 500 on Threads.
- On X, a first comment is a second post: 1 credit without a link, 13 with one. See Plans and limits.
- If the comment does not show up, the post itself is already live. Open it on the network to check, and contact support if the comment is still missing.
