A channel disconnected

What Needs reconnecting, Missing permission, and Suspended mean, and what happens to your scheduled posts.

What you will see

A channel with a problem shows "Needs reconnecting" under its name in the sidebar. On Settings, Channels, it moves to the top of the list with its status, the reason, and the number of scheduled posts it is holding.

Settings, Channels, where each channel card shows its status and the action for it

StatusWhat it meansAction
Needs reconnectingThe network no longer accepts the permission eksis holds, for example because someone removed eksis from the account's connected apps.Reconnect
Missing permissionA permission eksis needs was not granted.Grant permission again
SuspendedThe network reports the account as suspended.Contact support

A short outage on the network's side does not mark a channel as broken. eksis retries instead.

What eksis does for you

  • Scheduled posts for the channel are held, not deleted. The channel card says how many.
  • Owners and admins get a notification in the app and an email saying the connection dropped.
  • Every hour, eksis checks the channels it flagged. If the network reports the account as healthy again, the flag clears and the held posts are released.

Reconnect

Find the channel

Open Settings, then Channels. Broken channels are at the top.

Start the reconnect

Choose Reconnect, or Grant permission again for a missing permission. The network's permission screen opens. Bluesky and DEV Community ask for a new app password or API key instead.

Approve every permission

Sign in with the same account and approve everything the network asks for. eksis reconnects the channel and returns you to Channels.

Check the connection

The channel shows Active again. Choose Check connection if you want eksis to test it right away.

Held posts are released once the channel is healthy. Open the channel's Queue tab to confirm they are back.

If you disconnect a channel yourself

Disconnect holds scheduled posts the same way, and posts already published stay on the network. eksis deletes the access it stored for the account, so it can no longer read from or publish to it.

Still dropping?

If a channel keeps dropping after you reconnect it, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Help & support, then Contact support, and pick the channel in the form.
