Platform specifications
What each network accepts through eksis, and the rules checked before a post is accepted.
Every network accepts different post types, media, and text lengths. eksis checks each channel of a post against its own platform when you create or update the post. The same rules are available at run time from GET /v1/capabilities.

What each platform supports
Every platform sends the post.target.* and channel.* webhook events. The last column lists the events a platform sends on top of those.

Posting to several channels at once
Each channel of a post is checked against its own platform. When you schedule or publish, one channel that breaks a rule stops the whole post with 422 and the code post.has_errors, and error.details.validations says which channel and which rule. A draft is saved anyway, so you can fix it later.
A caption or media list set on the post is shared by every channel that does not set its own. With a X channel among the targets, a shared caption can be at most 280 characters. Set targets[].caption to give one channel its own text.
Each target takes up to 35 media items, and the platform limits below still apply on top of that.

eksis publishes a limited number of posts per channel each day. A post over that limit is postponed, not failed. Each platform page lists its limit.

Instagram publishes feed, carousel, reels and story. Every post needs media, so there are no text-only posts. Media accepted: images and video. Comments can be read, and you can reply, hide and delete them. Direct messages can be read and answered. A commenter can be answered privately by DM. Post metrics are available. A first comment can be posted right after publishing. eksis publishes at most 25 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.

YouTube publishes video and short. Every post needs media, so there are no text-only posts. Media accepted: video. Comments can be read, and you can reply, hide and delete them. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. A first comment can be posted right after publishing. eksis publishes at most 10 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
Threads
Threads publishes text, photo, video and carousel. Text-only posts are allowed (text). Media accepted: images and video. Comments can be read, and you can reply and hide them. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. A first comment can be posted right after publishing. eksis publishes at most 50 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
TikTok
TikTok publishes video and photo. Every post needs media, so there are no text-only posts. Media accepted: images and video. Comments are not available: TikTok has not opened its comments API to third-party apps. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. First comments are not supported. eksis publishes at most 10 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
LinkedIn publishes text, photo and video. Text-only posts are allowed (text). Media accepted: images and video. Comments are not available: Reading LinkedIn comments needs the Community Management API, which LinkedIn approves case by case. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are not available. First comments are not supported. eksis publishes at most 50 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
X
X publishes text, photo and video. Text-only posts are allowed (text). Media accepted: images and video. Comments can be read, and you can reply, hide and like them. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. A first comment can be posted right after publishing. Publishing is metered in credits rather than a daily cap.
Bluesky
Bluesky publishes text, photo and video. Text-only posts are allowed (text). Media accepted: images and video. Comments can be read, and you can reply, hide and like them. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. A first comment can be posted right after publishing. eksis publishes at most 300 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
Pinterest publishes photo, carousel and video. Every post needs media, so there are no text-only posts. Media accepted: images and video. Comments are not available: The Pinterest API has no endpoint for reading comments on a Pin. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. First comments are not supported. eksis publishes at most 100 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
DEV Community
DEV Community publishes post. Text-only posts are allowed (post). Media accepted: images. Comments can be read but not acted on. Direct messages are not available. Post metrics are available. First comments are not supported. eksis publishes at most 30 posts per account per rolling 24 hours.
